Foster Care Month Proclamation

Proclamation: May is Foster Care Month

Since 1988 when President Ronald Reagan proclaimed May as National Foster Care Month, each President has made the same Proclamation. This tradition is a great way to honor foster parents for the work, sacrifices and love they share but it also highlights the need for good families to care for abused and neglected children across the nation.

When seeing President Trump’s National Proclamation, Therapeutic Foster Care/Adoption Director, Ron Bertsch, contacted Governor Bevin’s office to get a copy of Kentucky’s Proclamation. Interestingly enough, there was none. But Governor Bevin’s office asked if DCCH would like to make an official request. And we did!
