Job Title: Vice President of Finance
Overview: The Vice President of Finance is responsible for overseeing all financial operations at DCCH Center for Children and Families, ensuring fiscal responsibility, sustainability, and financial health. This includes managing financial planning, accounting, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and reporting. The role will also collaborate with external firms to coordinate annual audits and tax filings, ensuring timely and accurate submission of 990 forms.
As an employee at DCCH Center for Children and Families, the Vice President of Finance shall be sensitive and responsive to cultural differences, which are present in the organization’s service population. In addition, this person must promote and support the principles of Trauma Informed Care (TIC) throughout the agency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or a related field (equivalent experience will also be considered); CPA license preferred.
- Minimum of five years experience in fund accounting, ideally within a human services agency.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and accounting best practices.
- Ability to work with diverse populations, showing cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) principles and PQI practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management:
- Oversee accounting operations, internal and external financial reporting, and strategic financial planning.
- Supervise finance office staff and directly manage:
- Electronic bill payment authorizations.
- Bank deposits and reconciliations.
- Billing processes and daily cash flow management.
- Accurate tracking and use of restricted gifts, ensuring compliance with donor designations.
- Financial Record Keeping:
- Ensure proper maintenance and security of financial records and supporting documents:
- Employee tax and benefits records.
- Vendor agreements and credit records.
- Contracts with placing agencies and payment tracking.
- Ledgers, journals, bank statements, investment reports, and other relevant records.
- Supervise records retention, ensuring confidential documents are secure and obsolete information is properly disposed of.
- Ensure proper maintenance and security of financial records and supporting documents:
- Financial Planning:
- Advise the President and Board on long-term financial strategies and planning.
- Lead the preparation of the annual budget and monitor its implementation.
- Provide monthly variance reports, meeting with department heads to review income and expenses.
- Oversee monthly operating statements, balance sheets, and cost reports for state agencies.
- Assist with grant reports and Board presentations.
- Ensure preparation of quarterly tax returns, annual tax reconciliation, and other necessary tax forms and reports.
- Audit and Compliance:
- Manage relationships with external audit firms to ensure timely and accurate completion of annual audits.
- Oversee the filing of 990 forms and other required financial statements.
- Leadership of Finance Office:
- Assist the President in various administrative and strategic tasks as needed:
- Support HR with Open Enrollment and benefits management.
- Collaborate with the Development Director on financial reporting and fundraising efforts.
- Partner with HR to contribute to personnel policy development, including wage and benefits guidelines.
- Assist in evaluating the financial impact of decisions and in strategic planning identified by the Leadership Team, President and/or Board.
- Review and liaise with insurance agents to ensure adequate coverage.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the President.

- As a leader within the organization, the Vice President of Finance will be expected to foster an inclusive and culturally sensitive environment while promoting Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) principles across the agency.

- Participate in continuous performance improvement initiatives and support the PQI program throughout the organization.
